| trying to make some decissions Hi. I am trying to figure out the best way to divide up my fish. I have a 90 gal community tank that has small community fish and I will leave it as such. I also have a 29 gal tank that currently has 1 gurami (sp) and 2 blue crayfish. I also have a 10 gal with 2 small fantail goldfish. I just put the 2 fidler crabs in the 10 gal because I wanted to take them out of the 90 gal to make sure they were not cuaseing some of my fish loss and because I found out they really need to be in a tank with a beach and ability to get out of the water. The 29 gal tank is established with an undergravel filter. It came setup with the gurami fish. I just moved it to my house. Seems to be working fine based on water test. No Amonia spikes. I put the 2 crayfish in because I wanted them and was going to trade the gurami with the store that I got the crays, but the guy felt the fish was large enough that the crays would not harm it. I can get rid of the Gurami or put it in the 90 gal, but I think it would be too agressive in the community tank. That's the first question. What to do with the gurami fish. 2nd I have the 29 gal and a 20 gal that is not set up. I got it from a friend, but I'm sure there is no bacteria left so esentially I'll be starting from scratch. I am going to take down the 10 gal, so I will have some established gravel and filter to transfer to the 20 gal tank. The 20 gal tank I want to set up for my crabs. I will put a shelf on one side with sand on it so the crabs can crawl up a branch and get to the beach while the rest of the tank will be full of water. Because the water level will be down about 3 inches I plan on using an undergravel set up with powerhead. There will probably be about 16 gals of water. (just an estimate) And the 29 gal tank I would like to put in my goldfish with a few new friends. Now I need to decide the best place for the crays. They like very similar water as the golds, cold water and 7+ph. I wonder if the golds are to slow and easygoing that the crays will kill them. I could put the crays in with the crab tank, but don't know what will happen there. I could also put the gurami in with the crabs in the 20 gal if I leave the crays in the 29 gal with the goldfish. Any thoughts on how to distribute these? Also with the 29 gal tank that is currently set up with undergravel. I have put 2 backfilters on it and have started running them also. (had the filters, came with the 20 gal) What i sthe best way to change over type of filter. All the bacteria is already in the gravel, so as long as I have god filtration, I shouldn't need to keep the undregravel filter? Can I just remove it now or should I let them both run awhile?
