yes that is sunlight so thanks on that ill be watching it close for algae. i leave my front door open alot but there is a glass door there. wo will i still have problems with the sun with a glass door? i ask becuase i have quit a few reptiles and they need d3 which is from the sun,and i have to give them artificial sun becuase putting them in sunlight but through a glass door wont do it. the glass actualy blocks what the reptiles need so maybe the same for algea?

Re: finally got the 7ft going

I dont think so I worked as a teacher in a childcare center and we had to move the turtle tank away from the window to get rid of the algae. Once we moved it and gave it a really good cleaning it ran wonderfully clear for at least the next year (I wasnt working there past that point) I also know they did NOT do water changes most that was ever done for the tank is the kids took daily turns feeding and the boss changed the filter when she felt like it (every few months) The algae bloom started at the beginning of summer too once the outdoors temp went above 60* (it is cold here) and the sun shown thru the offending window. I hope that helps. I am no expert but thought I would pass on that random bit of info i didn't even know I remembered.
