| What is the best way to heat water during a water change? Do you,
1. Boil water in a pot,
2. Boil water in a kettle,
3. Use warm water from the tap.

| Re: What is the best way to heat water during a water change? I just keep it in buckets/bottles for a few days prior to wc so that it gets to room temp. I think boiling the water would a little over the top. Option 3 would work...if you used conditioner of course

| Re: What is the best way to heat water during a water change? I use a big square rubber maid tub that has SW already mixed and I keep a heater and a small filter on and usually get it all going the day before my WC. If I am just topping off then I have a plastic jerry can that I have RO/DI water in and I pour our what I am needing in a bucket and use a heater to warm.

| Re: What is the best way to heat water during a water change? I use my python with my tap water. I have well water, and it has no chlorine, so I am able to get by without using any additives.

| Re: What is the best way to heat water during a water change? I also just use my python.
I run the hose into my living room and add the decholorinator to a a gallon jug and fill it that way
(with someone operating the sink)
I did get brave once and use the python to directly fill into the tank and as I held the hose, I had a bottle of dechlorinator slowly dripping into where the water was going into the tank.... I had no problems with it that way, but not really a great idea honestly

| Re: What is the best way to heat water during a water change? I use my python. One of the mods said the human hand can sense a change in temp of 2 degrees.
Once my left hand understood what my right hand was doing, if the water feels too warm or too cool, I shut it off, take the end back to the sink and let it refill with the right temp water. So far so good.
What am I not understanding about keeping water in a bucket for w/c? Cant the water be put directly in the tank? Before I started using the python, I checked the tank temp, then filled the buckets to the same temp, carried it to the tank and poured it in. I have not noticed a elec or water bill change.

its the salt guys who put RO/DI water in a bucket mix in the salt to get proper salinity and temperature. usually put a powerhead in the bucket and run it overnight to make sure the salt is dissolved in the water coloum
