| I have no idea, when you go to see the lfs ask them on a good antibacterial medicine. Tell them your symptoms and see which one they recommend, as I have never used one. |

| Definitly do the 25% waterchange tonight. The ammonia is probably what brought on the infection. What size tank is this guy in? It would also be a good idea to purchase a test kit so you can keep up with params yourself. At least a nitrate and ammonia test kit for now. Dont let them talk you into strips or the stick on alert things. Make sure the temp from the tap is as close to the temp of the tank as possible, also make sure you dechlorinate the water as well. |

| You can use a dechlorinator, I would recommend using stress coat.
Go ahead and do the waterchange tonight and 10% every other day till the ammonia is gone. After you get the ammonia down set up a waterchange schedule of 25% waterchange weekly, make sure you test the water every other day in that week to see if the 25% waterchange a week is going to keep the ammonia down before the next waterchange. I must also stress the point that he would do alot better in a 20 or 29 gallon tank. Gold fish are among the highest waste producers of most fish species. |

| Gotcha on the dechlorination. I have been told to upgrade to a tank but due to financial restrictions and other factors a ten gallon is all i can have. |

| I would recommend "Prime" over "Stress Coat" in this situation. If there are Chloramines in the tap water, Stress Coat releases the ammonia in the bond back into the water.
Non technical: you do not need a dechlor that is going to contribute to your ammonia problem.
I would also revisit the antibiotic issue as I think there might be a swim bladder infection also. Eurithromyacin may help.
