| Cory Catfish likes my Snail Hello, just a quick question. I have been working on my 55 gal tank for about two months. I have 5 cory catfish. Last week, I added one large apple snail to the tank. I noticed a couple of the cories like to nibble his shell. One especially likes to nibble the gap between his shell and where his foot comes out. The snail is very large, golf ball sized guy (named Big Daddy) They can't hurt him, can they? |

| Re: Cory Catfish likes my Snail I'm not familiar with these fish, but I know i bought two yo-yo loaches to kill off my snail population. So its possible they could eat him

| Re: Cory Catfish likes my Snail Corys are usually snail safe. Any loach will kill a snail, but I have never heard of a cory harming one. Might just be tasting him with his barbels (that's how corys taste things) to see if it's food or not. I wouldn't be concerned. |

| Re: Cory Catfish likes my Snail G day,
I'd be concerned if the corys never leave the snail alone. If the corys are always pestering the snail to the point that he retracts into his shell, the snail might not be getting enough feeding time to sustain himself. Seperation may then be necessary.

| Re: Cory Catfish likes my Snail Thank you for your quick replies. I will continue to monitor the situation. It doesn't seem like the interest is constant. The snail is really cool, though, and I want him to be happy. He's more active at night, I noticed.
