What fish should i get?

Ok I have had tetras,mollys,guppies,and small catfish but that was a year ago and I need something that is low maintnence,hardy, and not aggresive at all...

i think it will be easier for the pros to answer your question if you provide a bit more info about your situation.

what size tank, equipment, etc

im assuming you already have a guppy and thats why you dont want anything aggressive? if you dont have any and your wondering what fish will work well together in a community tank you should have a look thru some old posts, aswell check out the articles section.

i dont know any specifics but i do know a general rule would be similar sized fish get along well. guppies are small, you probably dont want to get anything that will grow big, i would have a look at what fish are available in your price range and then look them up individually on wikipedia, or post another question once you have some ideas.

i am 100% not sure about anything to do with fish, just trying to help you along in the right direction.

My tank has a 15 watt light and a regular hex 5 filtration system with a small biowheel and it is a 5 Gallon tank but it is tall and not wide and it is in a Hexogon shape.

i have the same tank, and its housing two platies and a baby molly right now with no problems. the platy is suprisingly resilient to my lack of fishkeeping knowledge.

Can you show me a picture of a platy because i have never seen one and i dont know if i like them but i have had a black male molly and he lasted for about 2 years then i had a fishuneral

...?!But i will look at platies at petco.com and well who knows maybe i can get 1!!!

From the sound of your post then I would say your tank is ovestocked big time. A 5g is basically only good for a betta really although there is a few other possibilities. I reccomend you get a 20g or so for that stocking. All I have in my 10g is 3 female bettas.
