I have a 10 gallon tank that will house about 3 Glow-light Tetras, a 6-inch pleco and possibly two guppies. At the moment, a lot of guppies over took the tank and a petstore will kindly take all the ones i want to give. A friend also gave me another pleco that the pet store is willing to take.

I was thinking about introducing two Pictus Catfish once I regulate the tank to 1 pleco, 3 glow-light tetras, and possibly two guppies.

What i want to know is would introducing the Pictus to the tank a good idea. I read about them and I fear aggression toward the pleco and I don't quite understand what need to be done to monitor the water and the fish.
Would he eat the guppies?
Would he eat the glow-light tetras?
Would he be agressive to the docile Pleco?
How and what do i monitor?
Please someone give me some information because i heard the Pictus are hardy but there is some work.
Anyone, please?

Your going to need a bigger tank for the pictus. They can reach 10" and need lots of swimming room. You really need a 70gallon or larger tank for these guys.

I agree with GM completely, you definately need a larger tank if you plan on keeping a pictus, you definately want at least a 48" long tank to start with, such as a 33 Long, or a 55, and then once they get a bit larger, like GM said, a 75-90 gallon tank would be best.

I have had a pictus for around 3 years, it has grown from around 3" to just about 6", they do grow slowly, but they need tons of swimming room.

As for your tetras, it will eat them at night, any small bodied tetras like the ones you have will be eaten by a pictus cat, your guppies most likely would also be dinner.

As far as your pleco, IMO you should give that back to the LFS as soon as possible, they can reach two feet, and relitively quickly, and are very messy fish.
