cichlid mating

how old does a cichlid to be to mate? mine havent had their strip appear on their fin until 3 weeks ago, they are 2"- 2.5" long, the past couple days theyve been makin lil gestures towards each other, flutterin the tail, tip side ways toward the other, chasing. i changed the tank setup 4 days ago, the largest yellow before was bullying the others to stay away from the decor but now the albino -the smallest of 3- is now chasin off the 2 yellows, i change the setup to a slate rock setup to have many caves and such. any comments?

mmm i have a hablochromis sp 44 thickskin and a red zebra a a few other Africans and ive noticed when they vibrate it means theyre angry and usually means theyree givign signals to back off to there opposers

I've seen convict cichlids successfully reproduce at only 2" or so... not sure they are a typical of cichlids though.

his are yellows soo theyre african yes Convicts are cichlids i have 2 pink cons and they do breed very yung but in his case i think its just agression i see it all the time btu still keep an eye out you neve rknow right?

Do you ever wonder what they are thinking. They look out of the tank then it looks like they shiver then My Yellows start chasing each other in circles. The wife and I just start laughing.
