Or am I losing my ability to read? Without trying to sound really rude or anything, but judging by the fact that you can type "2.5", you might also be able to use commas, periods, and other punctuation; which would help others more clearly understand what you are trying to say.
Before this thread gets longer than anyone would ever read through it all and add his or her further input:
Saikyo...are you interested in only saltwater ideas, only freshwater ideas, or both? |

| Re: Subunkin: Sick or just plain lazy? O_o Have you considered 1 or 2 african dwarf frogs? All you need to add to youur current set up is some thing for them to hide in.
I too have an empty 2 gallon hexagon aquarium kit that needs some inhabitants and have been thinking of getting an ADF (african dwarf frog).
You must feed them live or frozen blood worms because they will not eat flake, and they only need 1-2 gal per frog! (they dont even need airation they will get air from the surface, so you could get rid of that uplift tube if it gets in the way.)
Here is a good site on them, .
Hope this helps,

| Re: Subunkin: Sick or just plain lazy? O_o Well, the thing is is that its a UG. The frog will need some type of filtration won't it?

| Re: Subunkin: Sick or just plain lazy? O_o Saikyo,
Correct me if I am wrong, but by UG you are referring to under gravel filter, correct? (It looks like it in your pictures) If so, this is a filtration method and is arguably the best biological filter available; although it has some downfalls that have given it a bad reputation. I have some information collected in the form of an article which you can find by clicking HERE, or by browsing through the article section's maintenance articles. |

| Re: Subunkin: Sick or just plain lazy? O_o Yes I am referring to that. I had no idea these were so useful. UG is a very old filtration method, but by the looks of that article, its still quite useful. What are the downfalls you were talking about?

| In short, they require a fair bit more attention that other filtration methods in that detritus (e.g. fish wastes, uneaten foods, etc...) can become trapped underneath the bottom plate and essentually become a 'nitrate factory' (meaning nitrates are raising much faster than they should for the amount of fish you have in the tank (bioload))or uneffective. The idea would be to keep any organic based detritus on top of the substrate so that you can either vacuum it out or so that benificial bacteria (including Het. bacteria) can break it down, resulting in nitrates which you can remove via water changes (read normal water changes). |
