| Re: Moving... I just moved my 6 and 29 a few days ago. All I did was remove most of the water in each tank, and then filled them back up when I got to my new location. I left my fish in the partially filled tanks. I didn't have any problems with cycling or losing fish. Hope this helps.

| Re: Moving... try looking for a place called simply water they will move your fish it is cheap too that is what i used when I moved. They might only be in Texas though but there might be other places like them. Google pond moving services that is what they are but you might have to have a pond becuse I had a pond moved and I let them take my tank fish along with the pond fish so I do not know really I may have just got lucky that 1 time. Well good luck I hope this helps you in some way.

| Re: Moving... If you really want to break the tank all the way down then you need to put your fish in some kind of container like a 5g bucket or cooler or individualy in tupperware containers with water from the tank with lids.
Then remove the substrate (gravel, sand etc.) and put that into a container of some sort that can also hold water because the gravel needs to be filled with water to keep the bacteria alive.
Then you can move the tank and fill everything back up.

I did a gravel vac/clean up BEFORE I did that because otherwise, you end up kicking up every manner of pollution from the bottom of the tank! If you have large rocks or wood or sharp rocks, I would remove those too so your fish don't get injured. |
