Best water temp. for cycling?

Hey everybody. I got the new 55 gal. up and running today (pics are posted for those who are interested). I have a quick question for anyone who can provide an answer.

Is there an ideal water temperature for cycling the tank? There are no fish in my tank for the cycling process, just the decorations. I planned on keeping the tank between 77-80 degrees for the future fish, is that temp. appropriate for cycling? Does the temp. matter during the cycling process?

If you are using pure ammonia to cycle your tank 85-88 degrees is probably best for bacterial bloom.

Hey Bo!

Water temp can make a difference when cycling. Since you are fishless cycling you can raise the temp to 90 degrees, which is the most common advice I have heard (or I should say as far as I remember anyways) of as being closer to the 'ideal' environment for benificial bacteria.

Thanks guys, I just raised the temp. I bet it is toasty in there now!
