You could introduce it to an Oscar or a Piranha! (what! I'm joking, of course!)
I don't have the experience of Pappy, so you may wait and see if he comments on this but--Why not give it to a friend with a pond? If it is a comet/common goldfish, I think it should do OK in a pond. I've heard that it's not advisable to put fancy or long-finned goldfish in a pond; however, the Common, Comet, and Koi (maybe Shubunkin as well?) are supposed to do well in a pond.
BTW, I just want to commend you on your good heart. Many people wouldn't care so much for a fish. Especially a common goldfish!

We're really glad to see that you care so much about the welfare of this fish. You seem like a good person.
