new tank-cloudy water...help!?!?!

ok so im new to this and i'm getting hooked!!! i just set up a new tank..36G bow front...i let the water sit for a few days before putting in fish as i was told, but my water is very cloudy now (white not green). i changed about 30% of the water but still nothings changed. PH is about 7.2 which should be fine. i have a whisper 40 filter. do you think i need a stronger filter? the store i bought the tank and all equipment from just said to feed the fish less and pour in a drop of "aqua clear" and it should get better but that was a no go either. please help.
i have a large red parrot, large green terror, small green terror, and small talapia. thanks

Did you cycle your tank? Usually an aquarium will get cloudy water in the first couple of days, but that means the cycling process in just starting, and the bacteria are starting to form. Only other way it can get cloudy is if you overfeed, and that can go away in less than 2 days if you do a quick water change.

ok cool...ill definitely try that....i hope it works.....what do you think about the whisper filter? i was considering buying a different model - maybe fluval-heard it was better..thanks for the quick response

Hi saldayan1!! Welcome to the forum

I would suggest that you read the sticky article on Cycling your Aquarium.
The article is located at the top of of the forum posts. You are setting yourself up for frustration, and continual problems by not following this crucial step and clearly your lfs did not caution or provide the advice you needed to start out and be sucussful.

This needs to be your first priority. We on this forum would prefer that you cycle your tank without fish, as some will probably die in the process.

Regardless you need to do this first, it takes about 4 weeks.
