| New Fish..Which kind do you suggest? Hello, I have been waiting forever to finally get my 20 gallon and now it is within my grasp. Right now all I have is a 10 gallon with 3 guppies and 2 neon tetras. I know they are both simple, hardy fish. So except for more of the same what other fish do you think would be a good addition? I know I don't have too much room for much more and do plan to get at least 3 more neons, just to make them more comfortable. Also, I am more interested in unique behavior instead of pretty colors at this point.
Just thought I would ask

| Possibly an Otto, they are good fish. Little and good cleaners.

| Maybe a Cherry shrimp, they are different. Peaceful and very good cleaners.

| Well shrimp are cool , but I was thinking of a different kind of fish. Mollies, Platies, maybe danios. Thing is I don't know, are there any other fish, that would get along with my fish that are interesting. I wish I could go for a cichlid tank, but I dont have the room for two tanks. |

| With Guppies and neon tetras I would tend toward smaller fish or cleaner fish. Zebra Danio are almost always a good addition IMO. They tend to cause the other fish to move around a bit more but are not really aggressive from what I have seen. Most of the cat fish tend to develop a personality if you will and can be really interesting as well as beneficial. The Mollys, platties, variants would certainly be reasonable fish in terms of compatibility but I have never considered them to be all that interesting in terms of unique behavior.

| Hey Bill, Here are my suggestions: You want different and action but still in a comunity style tank... Clown Loach (very colorful and active, Hence the name Clown) LINK-->Clown loach - Botia macracanthus / Chromobotia macracanthus with pictures / photos YoYo Loach (again fun to watch very friendly and active) LINK-->Pakistan loach - Botia almorhae (lohachata), with pictures / photos Kuhli (Coolie) Loach (Very wiggly and active. Acts like a snake They are a blast to watch) LINK-->Kuhli (Coolie) Loach - Pangio (Acanthophthalmus) kuhlii
I have all Three of these, they have been a great addition to my Serpae Tetra's and Neon Tetra's. Lots of movement/activity, nice colors and different than what you see all the time. Neat little guys and cheap too at most LFS. Hope this list helps, Later, Pop's

| Great suggestions pops. Though, from your links, they seem to get a bit bigger then i'd like for my 20 gallon. Kuhli Loach might be appropriate though size wise and certainly looks interesting. Darn I wish I had a house then I could just have a huge tank and get whatever I wanted and keep the guys I have in there 10 gallon. Though I suppose with some of the bigger ones I could just get that and that alone and I guess it would be fine. I really want to get an oscar someday. I know how big of a tank they need, but are quite interesting fish.
It is sad really, the lPS I am mainly training at has an Oscar in one of its many 12 gallon tanks and is about 10 inches long now. The fish specialist there told me that it had been there since it opened 10 months ago due to lack of intrest. I can not explain how much I want to save that oscar , but I simply do not have the means to do so.
Thanks a lot
