| NO.If they would be hurt by being out of the water for a few minutes. then they wouldnt do it. I see thousands of them at a time hanging out on the waters edge on rocks in the wild. |

| Hey Michelle,
They'll be ok, mine do this as well every once in a while. What kind of snails do you have? Some will not tolerate reef temperatures and will climb out of the tank to escape the heat. This only leads to their demise so its best to know what types you are dealing with.
HTH,
Aaron

| Will not hurt them!
There are a number of reasons various types of snails do this.
Some take in an air bubble to store in their shell to breathe.
Some do it to lay eggs.
Some do it to eat the material that collects at the water line.
Some are trying to go walk about.

| I have two snails, Mickey and Boneparte. I got them from a girl who had to get rid of her tank so I'm not sure what type they are but one is almost four times as big as the other. Ive see them come out of the water only a few times. They seem to enjoy it, and it isnt harming them at all.
But i have a question. i resently got a minature clown fish who has seemed to take intrest in them. He is constantly , what looks like, trying to eat them.. should a seperate them? I was told that this was jsut the fish marking its territory and once it gets settled in it should decrease. any opinions?
thanks! |

| Hey X3FiiSHLUVA a belated welcome to the forum
If by clown fish you mean Clown Loach, yes they will eat snails.

| Well i guess it might be a good idea to seperate them! thanks for your help.
and fisharemylife101- your snail probally eats algea..probally from the side of the tank. if you want though, you can buy algea flakes at some selected fish stores! |

| I assume you are talking about aquatic snails. The most common of these would be the Gilled snails, which have gills. There are also the Pulmonate, which have lungs.. But for being common, it just depends where stores are getting their shipments from.
if you need more information.. GOOGLE IT. |
