im going on vacation for a week .. i was jsut wondering what precautions to look into ?
i dont keep the heater on anymore tank has been consistantly 80 in the hot weather, so it wont b tht bad .. what about feeding?

Go out and get the new gel feeder blocks. This will help feed the fish while you are gone. Also good idea to do a waterchange right before you leave.

well my mom refuses to take me out somewhere before we leave .. but they can go a week without feeding right ?
should i feed them a bulk amount b4?
or get them ready and feed them a little?

I wouldn't over feed them before you go, just feed them as you would normally I would say. Like GM said, I would definitely do a water change before you left. I'm pretty sure then will be fine for a week without food, though I'd personally be kinda worried about power outages and equipment failure. If the power were to go out and a filter not able to restart, things would get bad real fast. Not sure what you could do about that though besides have someone check up on your tanks sometime while your gone..

I would do like ZeroSystem suggested and a also water change as soon as you can when you return home. The fish will be fine. I left my tank for a week with no food. The water seemed clearer and the fish were in great shape when I returned.

The power outage thing is of concern, but if your water level is high enough the filter shouldn't loose it's prime and should restart. You could test it by turning the power off to the filter, give it a minute to completely stop flowing, and then turn it back on to see if it starts flowing again.

If you get someone to come in and check your tanks, I wouldn't let them feed the fish. Have them only check to make sure the filter is still flowing. Most non-aquarium experienced people will over feed the fish and unintensionally foul the water that way.

Try to relax and have fun on vacation.

If you get someone to check on the tank you can get them to feed your fish food that you've set aside like in little baggies i.e. one baggie a day with the amount of food you know they'll eat... but then again if you can't get out to buy a feeder block I doubt you'll be allowed to have a friend come and "check" on your tank while you're away.
