I have three questions:

1. I have a 55 gallon tank with two angels and two guppies. What would be some nice fish to put in with them?

2. I want to make my 55 gallon a planted tank, do I have to add some kind of "plant food" for the plants?

3. My ten gallon tank is algae covered, what can I do to get rid of it?

Hello MMH,
Before talking about what other fish make sense I would be concerned with the compatibility of the guppies and the angels. In a tank of this size I would expect the angels to grow to a decent size fairly quickly. They can IMO be fairly aggressive. Personally I would not plan on keeping both the guppies and the angels in the same tank for very long. If you follow that course of thinking then you would need to decide which ones to keep to determine the other fish.

IMO you might want to go to the planted aquarium sub forum and read through the threads there. It will give you some basics on what you need to be successful with plants. Then we can discuss questions in the forum.

Algae is easy to get rid of, BUT first we need to know what we are dealing with.

A good description would help. Is it green glass algae, Black Beard, Diatoms,Hair, Thread, or a combo. Included should be a list of your tank paramaters...

the algae is brown and grows on the sides and on the gravel and decorations, pretty much every surface
