They dont know anything and will agree with anything you say to get you out of their way so they can finish their work and go home. They dont get payed on commission so they can care less how many Oscars get sold.

| Re: Help! Oscars Fighting Well, I think you are very wrong about saying people at PetSmart don't know anything. I do agree that Walmart is basically fish that WILL die faster than they should. The fact that petsmart is where I sorta already have a job thats very insulting. I have read more than one fish book that say a 55 gallon could hold two Oscars if kept clean. I think PetSmart is much better than some other petshops and the fact that I talked to the manager says that's person couldn't have gotten there bye just lieing and saying things to sell fish. Well, I strongly disagree with a couple of statements made and I also agree with some. Thanks for some help. If u have any real advice on breeding Oscars or anything on what might be happening with mine thanks. |

| Re: Help! Oscars Fighting my personal opinion is all franchies buisnesses that sell live stock are bad. for me all stores owned by one person who spends time there will have the best livestock and will take care of more fish better than the walmart, petsmart, ect. while they are better than walmart i will say. it is always better imho to travel 1 hour more or so to get a fish that you know is in good condition. im sorry you took offense to this oscarsloved. we do not direct this at you. we know that you love fish and take care of them. but unfortunatly not evrybody is like us. some just work there to make money. as long as they get paid they dont care because whena fish is returned it isnt taken out of there paycheck ( correct me if im wrong) or when one dies. this is my opinion though.
as for breeding ill have to get back. but all you would need to do is set up the right params, increase or decrease temp, whatever they need. like angels its good to give them slate ive heard, oscars might need something as well. but ill do some research and get back.

| Re: Help! Oscars Fighting well thanks. In my opinion, some "one owner" pet shops are worse than walmart's fish. I got my first oscar at one and that fish is now dead. It lasted about four months and didn't grow 1 inch. It was nothing i did either. The oscar was sick from the day i got him. Anymore help would be great! Thanks. |

| Re: Help! Oscars Fighting we all have our own experiences. me my lfs is the best ive ever been too. and i think we can agree walmart is really bad. heck i was in there 1 month ago and some guy in the fish spot is giving a customer wrong info. to put it how misinformin it was. i was about to purchase a baseball bat just to beat the guy because he was acting like he was fish pro and in reality proboly couldnt keep a minow alive for a day. but when he walked away for a sec i gave the custermer the lowdown. there tank wasnt cycled so i explained that. helped them give them tips about the tank. even told them about mine because they asked and even made a new enemy. the walmart dude. he was red face mad at me because i proved him wrong at his job. and the custermer didnt buy fish, well you could say job. but i dont care i proboly saved a innocent fishes life. turns out thet were my cousins friend. they listened to me and now have a good tank and lost no fish. but heres some info on the oscars. http://www.geocities.com/cichlidiot_2000/breeding.html
good luck

| Re: Help! Oscars Fighting Thanks again. Ive done that before. I was in PetCo and these people had a couple kids and they wanted two male bettas and they were going to put them in the same 1 gallon tank. I told them about male bettas fighting and that femals can live together. Ive decided to return Trigger. They are really fighting and taking scales off eachother left and right. I will try one more oscar and if that doesn't work out then i will have to have one oscar instead of two. I just don't want cupcake to get lownly. Any more help would be great. Thanks again. |

| Re: Help! Oscars Not Fighting Now Just so everyone knows... My two oscars are not fighting anymore. I think they would miss each other if they were seperated. They love each other now! They have been doing good in the eating departement. They get bloodworms, live goldfish, krill, and pellets. I also threw some snails in their thank the other day (I had over 50 snail. It all started when I had save 5 snails off of a live plant I had bought and they bred.) The oscars liked the snails. Well, bye. I'll kepp you updated. |
