white spots

I just notice whit spots on my balas and silver dollars. what are they

i have never seen this before on any of my tanks in 20 yrs of haveing them

i just read an earlier thread about ick and started the salt treatment any other advice would be helpful

id watch them closely, its certainly not egg spots so id bet it wad ick, so watch closely and follow treatment recommendations

Good call.

No nukes, and you got the salt treatment started.

It sounds like Ich and everyone will eventually run into it one time or another, I haven't had an outbreak in years. That does not mean my tank is immune.

Keep the temp up 81 -82 F. Will take 8-10 days

thankx jay its been a long night doing the treatment of salt. do i need to add anymore salt in the next 10 days? and after 10 days how much water do i need to change? and how often? to complete the treatment?

No more salt should be required.

Don't rush the treatment, the fish should be free of the cysts for at least a week to be sure you killed it all.

After the treatment, you can do a few weekly 50% water changes to bring the salt level down.

thanks jay i hope this works i hate adding any chemicals to my tanks . and was glad to see a treatment that didnt involve a any. geuss ive been luckly in 20yrs of keeping a fresh tank ive never had ich. and didnt know what to do. this treatment alone makes the internet worth while. as i have never heard of a salt treatment. how did you develop your knowledge on tanks, school?, trial and error, or just a lot of reading?

i beleive 2 of my new fish have ick, they are white/silverish raised spots on two of my serpae's i dont know what to do, if to put them down so they dont infect my tank, or to add salt, how much and what kind of salt to add to my tank if it is ick, i will be watching them closely, but the only weird part is that in the bag of the 3 fish, only 2 of them have the spots, i was wondering if it could just be air bubbles from my airstones because it doesnt really look like ick, i need help urgently!
