Does anyone know of a puffer fish that is good for a community freshwater tank? I would like to get one, but have heard different things about them.

I had a puffer in a fresh water comm.(puffer, betta, mono, and a pleco) tank, he did fine with the other fish but he died (boo hoo...) for some reason. he was a slow moving fish, for the most part, and seemed very docile.

My brother has a puffer in his 75 gallon planted community with several fish including guppies, gobies, and a loach, among other things and he does fine. He can be a little aggressive towards any fish that comes near his hole under the driftwood, or if they get too close while feeding, but for the most part he is very peaceful and gets along well with the others.

Now I would attribute his good behavior to the fact that he is in such a large tank. In tanks less than 75 gallons... I make no promises.
