| lucky, my 2 of my fish i got online [total mistake] came with it, so i took them out after about 6 hours, and they infected my total tank, almost every fish has atlease one cyst on it, and it greatly angered me hah, so im waiting for it all to go way, i added the 20 teaspoons, but unfortunatly in more then an 8 hour period, will that matter?

| IMO what you are seeing is how bad the infestation really is (was).
You may loose fish here, some may not be able to withstand the amount of Ich present. The salt treatment will not cure fish that has been severely traumatized it will only rid you of the free swimming parasite.

| I believe Jay has explained this already but I will go through it again as a recap.
Ich cannot be treated while it is attached to the fish as cysts (the white spots you are seeing). When the cysts begin to break open and release the parasites into the water column then they are vulnerable and the treatments will begin working.
Just take Jays advice and keep up with the salt treatment, and raise your tank temperature to 82 F and keep it there. Eventually as all the cysts break open the parasites will die away and the infection will begin to have a more visual die-off.
If the problem persists for more than 2-3 weeks then I would seek advice on a copper treatment. Copper is extremely toxic in aquariums but it can be safely used if you follow directions. Copper should never be treated directly into the tank. It should also never be used without a proper copper test kit to monitor the level in the treatment tank.
If you have to use this method then please come to us for steps and advice before beginning treatment.

| i bought ick treatment and its working excellently, instead of it falling off and more appearing the next day, its falling off and none of its coming back, so im going to continue with it and perform water changes, and i think it all should be good

| Working The salt treatment seems to be making my fish a bit more comfortable (not as stressed) I did loose my Clown Loach However, he showed the first signs of my problem and he was already stressed from moving from one tank to the other. I am staying with Jay and Aarons suggestions and SALT treatment. I have worked to hard to learn tank cycling to go and screw it up biosystem with store bought "Tonics". Thanks again for all the help guys, My little guys are slowly doing better. MY tank readings are looking better by the day, so after the little guys finish their recommended treatment and recovery time in "Hospital tank" I will post my latest readings and let yall tell me when I can bring my guys home!
Later, Pop's

| 8 Days so far Ok, I am in the 10th day of "Salt Treatment" Things are improving ever-so-slowly. I still had a new "Out-Break" on several fish yesterday but many are looking much cleaner. Hoping this trend will continue. If I understand completely, I should wait 3 to 4 days after I see NO MORE white spots on any fish before concluding I have success? Then start water changes?
later, Pop's
Jay or Aaron, remember my tank had cycle problems so all my fish went to buddies tank then developed white spots and we started salt treatment. However, these new fish were in my cycling tank for several days. Do you think the parasites are in my (fishless) cycling tank at this time (should I treat it) ?? thanks Pop's

| Pops...
If ich infected fish came in contact with ANY aquarium water then the risk for infection exists.
But, there is no host in your cycling tank and I don't think you have a problem there.
You may want to increase your salt level a bit. Conservative is 1 tsp per gallon you may need to go to 1.5. And please understand this is difficult to do and observe long distance.
Last resort, after a few more days and an increase in salt, is chemo. No one wants to go there but....
Keep in close touch

I will increase salt!
If this might help at all go here:popspics2006 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting I have posted a pic of two fish and attempted to circle some of the whitespot. I understand this is not the same as being there but thought it would help a bit. This was taken this afternoon (it is the newest out-break. Thanks again, later, Pop's

Make sure the temp is up to at least 81 - 82.
I was being conservative with the salt.
You are adding 1/2 tsp. salt per gallon additional salt today or did already.
Wait 12 hours and add an additional 1/2 tsp. salt. That will bring you to two (2) tsp per gallon total for the tank.
The pic is blurry but it looks like Ich.
