I just recently bouht a powerhead. what are the pros and cons of the powerhead

pros are increased circulation, airation which can result in a cleaner and healthier enviroment for your fish.

as for cons i cant really think of any, they might be able to suck up fry... cost money... too powerful ones can mess up fish in the current... i dunno what else.

pros are much better than the cons badness, use it

yeah my betta seems to be tossed around in the current. but manages to get to the surface to eat and breath. but wouldnt the fish get use to the current and be able to get through it easier. i mean wouldnt they get stronger like if us humans if we work out. isnt it like a work out for the fish? I dont know im just trying to keep my fish healthy and happy

I think your betta fish is not going to like to be kept in too much of a current as they are found naturally in small, shallow, almost puddle like bodies of water. Not really in rivers or streams. So, I would add the one CON of being inappropriate for some fish. Others may adjust to it easily and others still may really want or need it.
