I am starting over on my Aquarium

I have the one dinky Algie Fish

So I went and bought 2 crab things and two small fish that clean the bottom

I keep seeing 1 crab

I did see the other one trying to climb in the bottom of the 1 plant that I have

Can they get out of the tank ?

one was hanging on to the air hose 1/2 way up

Yes, they can get out. They actually have quite the reputation as "escape artists"! I'm assuming these are either Red Claw crabs or Fiddler Crabs. Both of which need to have an area where they can climb out of the water and breathe air. They also do much better in brackish water rather then fresh.

They were not in there , I looked everywhere

Then yesterday afternoon they were both in there !

I think they have been getting into the bottom roots of my Plant

AND

Getting into the water filter at the top
(It is running water)



P.S.

There is salt in the water

At the Walmart Fish place they said when you start , you should put salt in there

Now i only see 1 in there again !

No offense, but please quit listening to Walmart. Unless I am missing something so far you have lost a few fish and maybe a couple of crabs. AGAIN, I recommend cycling your tank properly with no fish, crabs, or anything. During the cycling time you can research and learn about the different fish, etc and make an informed decision about what you want. Walmart has a bad rep for selling anything and everything (whether you need it or not). I have NEVER put any salt in any of my freshwater tanks. NEVER. The only time I can think of that I would possibly use this is if I had Ich. Which I don't because I do not buy my fish from Walmart.

Sorry, not trying to be harsh, and no I am sure not all Walmart's have diseased fish, but I am sure that those employees who service that department have not the first clue.

I opened the water filter

One of the crabs was inside there
(The other was inside the aquarium)

I changed the filter

and dumped it back in the aquarium

I think those Fiddler Crabs are in that Water Filter

I saw on Tv that Crabs like a Can or something to drag around on their back

What can I get for my Fiddler Crabs ?
