| Re: How big of a heater should i get for my 45? Hey Tony,
Welcome to FTF. You've picked a great forum to discuss the problems or any problems or concerns you might face in the future. For your 45g, IMO I think that a 125w heater would do the trick. If money is not the biggest issue you are facing, then I think any watts larger than 125w is always a safe way to go. Good luck with your hunt to find the perfect heater, and if I did not answer your question completely, then please feel free to send another question back or wait for others to chime in.

| Re: How big of a heater should i get for my 45? I think if it were me and I was having that problem (oh wait I DID have that problem) I would buy a very big heater. After all you can always turn a big heater down to be the right temp but if you ahve one too small, well it just cannot keep up.

| Re: How big of a heater should i get for my 45? Take if from experience! Get ANOTHER heater! I had 2 faulty plugs in my power strip that turned out to be working on and off as they pleased! Turned out those were the 2 plugs I had my heater in! Luckily my temp didnt drop to drastic levels, then after that one of my heaters took a dump! I run 2 100w in my 55 gal, If you live in a colder climate in the winter I would get 2 75w heaters if $$ not too much of an option (depending on which brand about 20$ a piece), if not add another 75 watt in with your 50w on opposite end of tank. I noticed 4-6 degrees difference in my tank when only one heater was working from one side to the other. |

| Re: How big of a heater should i get for my 45? If it were me I would get yourself a 100w Visi-Therm Stealth or Deluxe only a couple dollars more and marineland has GREAT customer serivce if something were to go wrong!!!! They are also fully submersable vs the one you linked which isn't. Also I would keep that 50w in there as a back up and so you have even temp of water across tank.
Check here prices are a lil cheaper! http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...fm?c=3578+3743 |
