| betta fish with other fish? I currently have a 10 Gallon tank with one catfish (actually two) and one guppie (blue tail)
I would like to buy a betta (male) to make my tank more lively plus I've always liked the betta's intelligent nature.
However, I don't know if the betta would be very aggressive to the community.
I have plenty of vegatation and hiding places for cover and my 10 gal tank seems to be enough for all fish to live peaceful but I'm worried that the beta would be jealous of the blue tail guppie and attack it relentlessly.
Should I go for the betta? |

| Re: betta fish with other fish? IME you could keep a male betta w/ other community fish. Just don't get 2 male bettas. That could result in tragedy.
New to FTF? I noticed the Sept 07 join date. Regardless, Welcome to FTF, or Welcome Back to FTF lol.

| Re: betta fish with other fish? I frequently keep beta's in a community tank. They are very peaceful fish generally. As mentioned never put two males together. Personally I never want to have two period jst in case. I have heard several people say they can be aggressive to similar colored fish but I have never experienced that. Actually my biggest caution regarding them in many community tanks is they will be the ones that get picked on and even killed . I see no problem at all in your case with the fish mentioned.
