| My New 10 Gallon Hexagon Tank Hi, I am seting up a new 10 gallon hextagon tank in my office, thats the tall diamond shape tank. I am planning to put fresh water fish in I'd like to hear an opion on what type of fish to put in , I have a regular 10 gallon tank at home with three bala shark fish, The pet shops call it tri color shark, and I think they need more of a long span to swim, I know it can use a bigger tank but I find them to be a strong fish and they last longer then any other fish I had in a 10 gallon tank.
I find it interesting that the stores call the tiger barbs semi aggresives , I found them to be aggresive even to there own kind. and the same gose for the kissing gauramees. I would like to hear opions on what type of fish dose well in a tall 10 gallon tank and how many fish would you put???
thank please email me at jackwalz@yahoo.com |

| Is there a heater with the tank, seeing how some companies turn there heaters down over night, it would get cold in the tank. If it doesnt have a heater I would suggest a small school of whiteclouds as they are coldwater fish and can handle the tank getting into the upper 60's |

| I agree with gm! white cloud mountian minnows would be a lovely choice, especially with the addition of some un-demanding plants, although aquascaping a tall tank can be a challenge |

| Your going to need a bigger tank for the Balas if I'm correct they can get about 14 inches long ! the tiger barbs are defiantly semi aggressive compared to cichlids and the like

yeah yeah, I agree... in fact, I mentioned that in the pm I sent you before realizing you started a thread for it too, lol.
Bala's need a bigger tank and a few more numbers.
with the hex I'd go with a betta, a small school of Harlequins and a small school of tetra. But you do need the heater and decent water maintenace with the two schools in 10g.

| A couple of angels would look really nice in a tank of that shape. And as for the barbs I have 12 in my 40 gallon and they only mess with each other.

| Hi, Thanks very much for responding, ok, #1 I do have a heater. The mix you gave me is it choices or should I get all of them ? I dont know if this makes sense but the girl at the store said that for a tall tank its nice to get fish that stay on top, in the middle and the bottom. I would rather get fish that get along. and don't need very long swimming space Would a male beta go with harlequin rasboras and tetras? should I put them all in? Like 5 Tetras 4 Harlequin's and 1 male beta ?
Anything else ?????
Thanks for the advice.
are the harlequin rasboras a type of gold fish? gold fish are nice but they leave alot of stuff after them.

| With the fish you have listed it will be a little overstocked, if you go with this list I would suggest two waterchanges a week. Personally I would omit the betta and just go with the others mentioned. |

| What do you think about adding panda cories to that mix?
Angels are nice but will they could do good with those others? |
