| Advice - Moving up, and converting a salt tank to fresh. After a few years I am ready to move out of my 12g Eclipse and into a used 40g Seaclear System II that I found. I have a couple questions.
1. The new tank was used for salt. Other than flushing it out, is there anything special necessary to make this tank ready to go as a freshwater setup. Also, should I buy new bio-balls, or is rinsing them good enough to get the salt out, they appear clean, no crusting or anything obvious on them.
2. There are a couple minor (acrylic) scratches. I have seen a polish/buffer liquid from coralife and some other sandpaper-based products, in real use how difficult is it to reduce the appearance of scratches. Should I even try?
3. For anyone familiar with the seaclear system II, with the driptray and wet/dry filtration, is this enough air contact to get proper oxygenation? Is a bubbler still needed? From what I read, its surface-to-air contact more than the bubbles that get the gas transfer going. Also, this tanks recirc method is more than enough to get the lower water moving up without bubbles.
4. Finally, the end. This tank came with a second powerhead that I cannot figure a use for. It was not actually installed and may be extra, but I want to be sure that there is not some use for it.
If you are still there, and still concious, thanks!! Any and all input is welcome.
