well i have a 20 gal set up .. and an empty 5 gallon tank .. ive been reading up about quarentine tanks and hospital tanks .. well i obviously couldnt use this for both, so what which one would your recommend?

possibly even both, as long as there isnt a sick fish in the hospital tank

The five will work fine for hospital or quarantine tank. The only thing you need int he tank is a sponge filter, or other filter. A flowerpot or pvc pipe. Thats about it, it doesnt need to look good to function.

Aren't they essentially then same? When you get a new fish you qurentine the fish in the tank, and when you have sick fish you would do the same just not at the same time. Either way the setup would not change.

i understand that, but obviosuly if i have a sick fish in the tank, im no gtunna put new fish in their, because then theres a chance they will get sick

If some of your existing fish are sick and moved to the qt/hospital, it's not the best time to be buying new fish anyway. Cross that bridge when you get to it. For now it's a quarantine tank and using it as such will hopefully keep you from needing it as a hospital tank for existing fish.

Another tip in case it's not obvious. If you already have fish in the quarantine tank then don't buy more fish until they've finished and been moved out.

I agree with BJP. If you have a sick fish/s, you should worry about them, not buying a new fish/s.
