| New member, hello. Glad to meet you all. I have been keeping tropical freshwater fish for the past 7 years now and find it a very easy hobby.
I am starting my 65 gallon aquarium back up after taking a break to paint in the house. I had condensed my fish into a smaller, 20 gallon tank for a couple of months. It contains 4 Buenos Aires tetras and 9 black skirts, and is filtered by an Aqua-Clear 150 power filter. So I decided to give the Buenos Aires more room with the 65.
I bought new gravel for the 65-gallon tank and treating it like a new tank set up. It has an Aqua-Clear 300 power filter as the only filtration, some decorative wood and plastic plants. I filled 'er up, primed the filter, and am letting it stablize for the next four days. Then I will transfer over the 4 Buenos Aires tetras and let the cycling begin. I always water-test during the cycle, too.
I intend to keep 20 Buenos Aires tetras in the 65-gallon and about 10 black skirts in the 20-gallon, with just a single Aqua-Clear filter on each one. I hope this is a good plan. Any advice for my situation is welcome. |
