| Re: picture of my tank at its current stage I really like the plant on the left, is it a sword plant of some kind? I have a sword that has skinny long leaves, but I like the way the leaves on yours spread out at the top. I absoulty love banana lillies! Thats whats growing out from behind the rock right? What do you do to grow your plants?
I really like your rainbows too!

| Re: picture of my tank at its current stage thanks! yeah on the left is an amazon sword. on the middle next to the big rock is also an amazon sword, i just trimmed the big leaves recently so that's why it looks all skinny.
to be honest with you im not doing a great job at it, that's why the amazon sword in the middle is showing anemic growth (it's not dying but the leaves arent' forming as big as they should be.)
now i just added another light so i'm at 2.84 WPG now. i run the lights on a 7-hour timer and put liquid supplements (LeafZone until now, changing to Seachem Flourish)
if you're interested in planted tanks, Jay and a couple others here are masters at it. i'm just struggling with it! |

| Re: picture of my tank at its current stage Thats a Crappy Pic??????????? my best pics dont look that good and I keep trying nor have I gotten a single pic where you can see that I have a single identifyable fish. I love the set up though it looks great. nice and clean and simple looking (being a plant novice as well I know it is far from simple) but you know what I mean. I see you have several snails mine is going around flipping over the "ground covering plants" is am trying to start I think I will have to come up with new idea.
Luv It Keep us updated

| Re: picture of my tank at its current stage at the moment i have 3 apple snails, all about 1". im wanting to buy a much bigger show piece but havent found it yet.
i just added three more banana plants, super small ones that i planted in the front of the tank. looks like i have a vegetable garden in there now
and added two palms as well.
btw, my snails haven't done any damager to my plants. but my fish do! right now my clown loach is going after the roots of the newly added banana plants since they're not completely on the ground. and several of the fish are eating my dwarf hairgrass like it was food or something, even fighting over it!
but the snails dont mess up things (yet). it's funny to see them, sometimes they get on the leaves of the smaller of my swords and the leaf can't support their weight, so it buckles, and my snail is upside stuck to the underside of the leaf...it looks like out of an action movie |

| Re: picture of my tank at its current stage I have one plant I was very excited about is was kinda bushy with pinky and green leaves and a second that was same type of plant but with boring allgreen leaves. My fish have completely (or darn close) killed the really pretty pink one but havent touched the other or any of my other plants they do eat the little bit of algea that has grown on one but not the leaf. The one I really liked though they striped leaves and then nibbled though the stems (so I had severed stems floating in the tank ) I am now looking for a colored plant that will replace it. as for the snail he has overturned 3 of my 4 ornaments my bubble making boats and my silly phoney coral thing.(the 4th is very large and heavy it is set right on the tank glass with 3+inches of gravel all around)I had a long talk with my son and we have decided that we need different "snail proof" decor and are looking at a bubble river and some peices that are made of resin rather than plastic. as for plants I will try to maybe put my babies tears and micro sword along the edge of the new decor (pretty next to the bubble river pinned against the glass) and see if my very nosey snail can still make it budge. It really hasnt set out a root system to anchor itself yet and sohe bullied in and redecorated.
