| My Discus Tank Pictures Hello Everyone,
This is my discus tank. 4 Foot and 47G. It has been up and running for about 5 months. It is home to 3 discus, Thomas, Bluey and Sam, 6 Black neons, a gold sailfin pleco, peter, who is about 15cm long, and a siamese flying fox. The most trouble is between the two smaller discus who seem to have arguments all the time. I was wondering if adding another discus might sort this out. I already have wendy another discus in a smaller tank which i removed because she was getting picked on by all three. I saw a really pretty yellow at the LFS about the same size as wendy. If I added the yellow to wendys tank and then when they had (hopefully) bonded added them both to the main tank I was hoping they may have enough force to defend themselves against the three. Any ideas?
Anyway here is my tank. 100_0999.jpg 100_1000.jpg 100_1005.jpg

| Re: My Discus Tank Pictures Beautiful tank set up for the Discus.
I had an issue with 4 I started with then add 6 more and they all banded well.
You have the occasional 1 in the corner but they are not centering on just 1.
Overall they all herd around. i have mine on a landing opposite the front door and whenever someone knocks they race to the door to see who it is. The wife claims them as sons and daughters.

| Re: My Discus Tank Pictures Gee thanks guys! There are now 4 discus in there, and they seem to be getting on well. I put the one in isolation (wendy, she was getting picked on badly) back in with with them when the heater went bung. (Long story) But they all seem to be going well. I thought she would be picked on for sure, but she has settled into second place, behind thomas! I will be doing a water change today so will post updated pics when i'm done. The stem plants just don't stop growing! I am always pulling them out and re-planting them!
Yeah it is a Murray Cod, but he is in a different tank! hes about 45cm and in a 6 by 2 tank. I have had him since he was about 3cm long! He just keeps out growing his tanks!
PS. How does a Texan recognise a native australian fish? Thats excellent!

| Re: My Discus Tank Pictures My lfs has one in their giant display tank it is about 4' (or as the metric system would put it I think 121cm my conversion may be off I am not that good at dimensional analysis) long and is really a beautiful fish
you are lucky to have one I have tried but there is no way to get my hands on one for my pond.

| Re: My Discus Tank Pictures He really is a personality, somedays hes grumpy and sulks others hes out and about cruising the rocks hunting for yabbies! I'm not looking forward to the day he is to big for this tank. I don't know what I will do. I'll have to buy a farm with a dam for him! How big is the tank they keep the 4foot cod in? reckon you could post a photo if the lfs lets you? That would be fantastic.

| Re: My Discus Tank Pictures I eill see if the will let me take a pic. I am not sure about the acctual capacity of the tank all I know is it is a 12' by 6' tank or 365cm by 182cm. It is claimed to be 1500 gallons but I am not sure there are also arowanas and sturgeon in the tank that are around the same size as the cod. Due to the fact it is not legal to keep a sturgeon I do not know if they will let me photograph it.

| Re: My Discus Tank Pictures That must be an amazing tank! The biggest tank in anyfish store near me is the same size as the one I have, 6 by 2. I hope he lets you photograph it, I mean they let hundreds of people look at it every day! But please don't go out of your way, or pressure them, just next time you need supplies and head down there. I am so interested! I'm sure heaps of people here would also be impressed by a tank of those proportions!
