| Re: jimcalpin's 55 gal freshwater community it's a glass starter tank from petsmart and i got the plants from walmart, came in a three pack or something like that.
I got a betta today, it looked really cool (possibly the best looking one i've seen) i'll take some pictures soon (now if only i can find that dang camera), if the betta doesnt get along well with others, one of the ladies i work with wanted to get a fish for her daughter, and who could pass up a free fish? |

| Re: jimcalpin's 55 gal freshwater community She couldnt pass up a free fish, until she finds out all the expenses to keep it.
I really like your tank set up. Ive also been wondering what gravel would look like with a blue background. tx for posting.

| Re: jimcalpin's 55 gal freshwater community this is the betta i added on 3-27-08. his name is Xerxes, after the Persian king in the movie 300 (i decided to name all of my fish after greek or roman mythology to go with the theme of my tank) he seems to be adjusting to the tank just fine. hopefully more updates comming soon |

| Re: jimcalpin's 55 gal freshwater community Dang Judge...I feel bad about it but the link you posted was to another forum's website and I know its just a technicality but it is the policy; sorry. I'm sure it doesn't make up for anything but CLICK HERE to see a different picture of a banded Leporinus. To be honest though, while I agree with judge completely, your fish does look like it is very starved or perhaps even sick so I would keep a close eye on it for a while....as I am sure you already plan on.
Personally, I definitely like these fish quite a bit but in case you didn't know, these fish grow up to be pretty big fish - which is pretty much why I don't have a few - and I think that they are pretty good jumpers so keeping a top on the tank would probably be a good investment in the near future...that is, if you don't already have one of course. Otherwise, I am hoping that you will be able to keep posting pictures so that we can live vicariously through you |
