Red face HOB Emperor Bio Wheel 280-power filter

Marineland Emperor Bio-Wheel 280 Power Filter

Very common filter. Excelent biological filtration. Mechanical filtration leaves a bit to be desired. With the right sise "e" filter cartridges picking up a replacement at the lfs is a breeze. Basicly filter floss and charchol. Little to no assembly time. Just place on back of tank, shake the cartridges,(remove loose charchol) fill with water plug in. Matinence is easy just clean the inside of the tube periodicaly. Build up will affect water flow. The flow rate is 280 gph. Recomended for up to a 50 gallon aquarium.

The emperor line up from marineland is beter than the penguin. There is extra room for filter media. Seperate basket one could fill with medium of there choice. The lid asembly is more solid and wont vibrate like the peguin one dose.(myne dose at least.)

A nifty spray bar which is included should help the "Bio Wheel" turn if ever it gets to heavy. All in all great filter for small to medium aquarium. Best in terms of biological filtration. For a price sensitive budjet not much beats this.

There are a multytiude of simmilar filters by marine land or not. Where as I have never had a problem with my Emperor and have herd many a horry story about other hob. This one is quiet and efficient.

Only down side if ever your water level drops below the lip of the filter sounds like niagra falls! Just need to add water untill it reaches a no noise level. Good luck. My nex filter is going to be a hob Marineland.

I agree on this. I have the 400 model.

Filters are a bit expensive as you use 2 at a time, but I guess that is expected with such a good filtration system.

I did find brand new in box filters on ebay for 1/2 the price of normal even with shipping. So that was a plus
