A Chiller in the desert?

I live in Phoenix and am about to set up a 55gal FW tank. I have had FW and SW tanks before but not in the Desert. I am a little concerned about the possiblility the temp in the tank in the afternoons may reach fhs mid 80's. I am planning to locate the tank as close as possible to an Air Conditioning vent. Also I plan on using aeration to help with the process. I looked at chillers today and decided my wallet needed chilling. Any one have some experience with this issue?
Thanks

My tank reaches close to 83 in the dead of summer, that is with keeping the room temp at 75. Things do fine at that temp. If it gets higher than 84 I would invest in a fan to blow across the water, you will have more evap, but should keep the temp below 84.

Re: A Chiller in the desert?

My biggest tank has so many pumps and lights and such that it stays at 85.5 pretty much all summer and winter long... without a heater!

If your room temps rise above 85 then you have a problem, otherwise the tank will be fine.....
