removed ugf!!!

What a filthy mess, stinking, ucky, blucky. etc etc.

I vacuumed the bottom, and the water was really brown, not just the sorta brown, but so dark I coulnt see bottom of bucket. No more ugf's!! tx for the info about nitrates going up, so very very true, no wonder!!! its been about 15 mins and so far, no fish are trying to jump for their lives. The bottom feeders are having a big party.

I used vinegar to scrub off the brown ague/diatoms/filth. rinsed well and will check on all the stuff later.

Time for this old lady to take a break I think the tip I posted was a great idea, but its a good idea, if you start early, before... it gets out of hand.

Re: removed ugf!!!

I still use my UGF in my 20 gallon tank, but I only have 4 fish, and one is a pleco

My only source for air is the 2 tubes in the bank and a 6'' stone in the center.

If I ever take the tank down, I may remove it, but Ive never had a really bad problem w/ my UGF in this tank and we've had this tank for about 15 years.

Re: removed ugf!!!

I always hated UGFs for that reason. Always made the tank readings a mess.

I know a guy w/ a 150g tank. He has a UGF and uses a pond pump to move the water. No real filter to speak of. I don't how that works.
