Re: python no spill system

It's never easy to tell your doctor you broke your butt doing a water change... concrete floors are lovely for this hobby but sure get slippery!

Sittin on a donut...

Ok, that is normal if the water pressure backs up from the valve at the end of the hose being closed. What I usually do is open the bottom of the pump like you were siphoning water and turn on the faucet. Get your desired temp set and put the fill side in/at/near the tank to be filled with the valve at the fill end off. That way you don't have to make a mad dash to your tank tripping over your cat or an errant shoe before the pressure backs up and decides you need to mop your floor. when you have your hose in position and your temp set, close the siphon valve (twist and turn up on the pump) and by the time you get to your tank the water should be a few seconds behind you. Also something I do is put a hand towel over the bottom of the pump to prevent the water from soaking everything.

Re: python no spill system

i love my python...i have been keeping fish for the past ten years and walking buckets up and down stairs was a major pain....what i've done is get the tap to the right temp and put the python on fill mode and as it fills i add prime....i do water change only as often as i have to just by going by the nitrate levels in the tank...when they start to get high i do a water change....and that has always worked for me...
