vaccuming 10 gal tank

My old vac tube as well as the new Python vaccums the 10 gal too quickly. Sucks out 1/2 the tank before Im done cleaning it. What am I missing here?

You could always nip down to the lfs and pick up a bottom vac with a much smaller hose diameter.
That will slow down the siphon volume a lot.

Hls, I understand you, but im not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing

Ive only used the python one time I didnt know you could slow the tap water down and it would still work, so thank you!!

Jay, I thought the bottom vacs worked poorly and not a good idea. Im not sure where I read that or even if I did.

hls, you did not offend me at all. thank your simplifying it, I understand now, start the sphyon, turn the water pressure down

If I understand the teckie stuff. the water tap and middle of tank are almost exactly level. about 30 feet apart, and on same floor. So I think that means the vertical drop is about the same

your python has a shut off right?? you could turn in so its slightly closed slowing down flow rate or you could vacuum the right side one WC and the left side the next WC on a 10 G tank WC should be done very regularly
