Does it matter what silicone you use? as the only silicone i can find for tanks is like 10 bucks for a small tube as where i can get a tube of 100% silicone for 4.99 at the hardware store

I think you are okay with the hardware variety but I would read the label carefully. You do not want to have some catalyst that causes a problem. The silicone is just that silicone which should be the same

I'm pretty sure that i use some titanium enriched stuff a while back and it had no effect but just wanted to make sure

i use silicone #1, its at lowes... cheap easy, non toxic.
