Intervention is going to be by ion exchange (water softening methods) but there you are exchanging sodium Na for calcium and magnesium. NOT really ideal.
The other method as you mentioned is to dilute with RO water. BUT IMO I would hold off until we see how high it really is by looking at the GH and KH.
Almost everyone has calcium in their water, which leaves white deposits as the water evaporates. Distilled white vinegar will take it off if you clean regularly.
