Calcium

I have well water and contains a lot of calcium, the problem with the calcium is that it leaves white hard to remove streaks on the glass. Besides using purified water how would i go about removing the calcium from my water. Would filtering through peat moss help?

What are your GH and KH readings? We need to see how hard your water really is.

Intervention is going to be by ion exchange (water softening methods) but there you are exchanging sodium Na for calcium and magnesium. NOT really ideal.

The other method as you mentioned is to dilute with RO water. BUT IMO I would hold off until we see how high it really is by looking at the GH and KH.

Almost everyone has calcium in their water, which leaves white deposits as the water evaporates. Distilled white vinegar will take it off if you clean regularly.

Vinegar is my preffered safe method of calcium removal, but for really tough areas Lemon Juice works better... Just try not to get it in your tank as it is about 10x more acidic than Vinegar.

I've posted a similar question under the "Setup" group. I am interested in hardness as well. I measured my well water KH (Carbonate Hardness) reading of 10 drops or 10 dKH = 179 ppm KH. My GH (General Hardness) was 14 drops or about 250 ppm GH.

Should I expect problems with these levels and how should I plan to deal with it.

My tank GH is 75 my KH is between 40 and 80 on my teat
I also tested the well water the GH and KH are the same. I found that i could get most of it off with a razor blade(wouldn't try of acrylic tanks) if i let stay wet for a while.

Neither of your KH GH are so far out of whack <- incredibly complex technical term

, that IMO I would be concerned about
