Good Morning; My tank seems to be doing ok so far, its now been running almost a month. I have noticed a color change in one of my giant danios. The fish is Approx. 3``and around 3-4 years old. The color of the fish has changed from a nice light br/silver color with the distinctive gold and green stripes to a much much darker Brown and the stripes also have a much deeper color. I have another Giant danio Approx 4`` and about the same age who`s colors have not changed. Do i need to be concerned? Is this natural?

I have never kept these sort of fish so this is just my guessing. Personally I would not be concerned, especially if it's getting darker. If it was getting lighter than that might be a cause for concern. Could be a mating thing, or sometimes fish just change color..I've had some of mine change color, when I brought my flame gouramis home they were hardly orange and had no blue at all. Now they are a bright neon orange with gorgeous blue heads and fins. Whereas you're saying you had these fish for a few years this is a little odd. Could be because the fish is getting older too. I wouldn't worry. Maybe someone with a bit more knowledge will come along!

Thanks carriej ;The fish were my brother in-laws for years he gave me his tank and the 2 danios, In early jan.08 my tank is almost a month into running. There were 10 fish i started of with; but have recently had a few casulties. I had The 2 Giant Danios,2 catfish, 2 alge eaters, 2 clown loaches,2 bala sharks & a snail. I had a bala shark jump out of a 2``Square hole. and yesterday a cat fish rolled belly up on me. Everyone else seems Happy. The Color change happened a week ago and is just unexpected.
