Does anyone use or know anything about this product? Its ALGONE and supposedly it will works magic and miracles and release perfect sugar coated miracle microorganisms into your tank to make your tank fabulously centered. (pardon my extreme sarcasm but I do feel better now) I have been using them for a few weeks now, I had a bad algae problem (all fish were gasping and lost three in a day) so after my emergency 50% water change I went a researched for products and came across ALGONE. Now I'm sure this product is a good product only if your tank has cycled properly. Mine was still cycling and I think it has been killing all my nitrates and beneficial bacteria that are necessary to eat my ammonia. (Ammonia is through the roof and has been for weeks) Anyone know more of this product?

I had a HUGE algae problem - BBA, BGA etc... and I tried Algone. IMO it made things worse. It was like a nitrate factory in my tank. So - I came to this forum and Jay helped me rid my tank of algae. Using correct lighting, nutrients and CO2... not "miracle products". But I was desperate.

I could be wrong (and probably am) but I don't think the fish were gasping because of the algae. Was probably the ammonia levels.

Water changes are probably your best bet right now to decrease the ammonia levels and possibly save the rest of your fish.

After all the help we've been giving you... you went and poured more chemicals into your tank? WHY?

You knew what is was all about going in

and you still went for it hook line and sinker.

They do really have a marvelous marketing program don't they

The Algone pouch came before I joined this forum. I have been trying to fix the problem the way you have been telling me RubberFrog. I took the pouch out, I was just asking if anyone had ever used/heard of it before. The Algae thing happend like week one of my tank. I actually found this at the end of Sep, and the Algone came early Sep. Don't think I blew you off, I just read a little deeper into that product, and think it may not be helping my ammonia!!!! problem. So I t ook it out. Sorry for the confusion
