Tank cleaning

I am brand new to fish ownership...I recently bought my 6-year-old a goldfish! We have him in a small tank (bought at Wal-Mart!) and I am unsure of how to clean it. Can you provide some guidance? Thanks!

You will need to do weekly waterchanges, clean the gravel with a substrate tube cleaner, and clean the glass with a scrubber to keep algae off. Here is a good article that will answer some of your questions.
