how long is the lighting strips for a 20 gallon ?
i want flourescent lights, and i have aplnated tank so atleast 40 watts

the current is "All Glass Aquariums"

but i need a higher wattage because i like the look of planted tanks

so i was just wondering like how logn they are - for ex. 15" or whatever they sell

I do believe it would need an 18" long light unless the tank is a 20gal long, then it would need to be 24".

I've got the 24" twin tube fixture from All Glass aquariums on my 20 high. it has two 18" 15 watt bulbs. The original single tube strip that came with the tank had one. I also ordered their high output compact flourescent and used it for a while. It had one 55 watt bulb. Waay more lighting than I wanted so I gave it back to the store and ordered the twin tube.

Now I'm kinda wishing I could land somewhere in between the wattages of the twin tube and the HO but the triple tube strip lights appear to start at 36 inch length. I guess I could drag one of the single tube 24" fixtures out of the closet and plop it down over the front glass section but that would make it annoying to feed and clean the tank.

well i think its an 18" like gm333 said cuz its definately not a long tank

Just make sure to measure the length of the tank before purchasing the lights to be sure they will fit.
