My tank has green algae stuck on the glass and on the rocks. I have snails in my tank. What can I do to get rid of this?

1) Is your tank fresh or salt water?

2) How long has the tank been set up?

3) What are your water parameters?

4) How big is the tank?

and 5) How long do you keep the lights on?

If you can provide me with answers to most of these questions I should be able to give you a more accurate answer.

Green algae is usually a good sign, and it will pass. I will explain more on this once I have more information regarding your setup.

Water Parameters= Test kit levels for...

Ammonia
Nitrite
Nitrate
Phosphate

and whatever else you can tell us, including number of fish, feeding amounts,
water change routine, etc.

You need to be able to tell us what is going on in the tank if we are going to be able to help you. Otherwise you are going to get guesses, and anecdotal opinions, instead of real help.

Hobby test kits are very useful for determining trends and ballpark water conditions, every beginner needs a basic kit. Even if they are "dip and read". These numbers help zero in on whats happening in your tank, and takes the guess work out of questions like " I have algae on the glass, what do I do"
