Filter Change Issues

Sponges can be rinsed, I rinse the sponges in my canister filter in tap water. If you are concerned about bio-bacteria rinse them in a tub of water treated with a quality chlorine, chloramine remover.

If you don't rinse them they become cloged and cut down on water flow.

Good info but can someone tell me how often I should clean the sponge and how often should I change the charcoal filter. ( I guess I just have a simple power filter that sucks water up and thru the filter sponge and charcoal)
