Can someone help me ?

Hi, I'm really new on this web site ,So please hang in there with me.
I have a 30 gal. aquarium and it's bin running for 25+ years,just last two weeks I have bin noticing this white stuff growing . It looks like a tree with hundreds of branches clinging on the inside glass. I don't think it's algae because it moves from place to place leaving no trace of where it began. Like it's feeding on something.

My fish seem to be fine. I never seen anything like this. Could someone help me ? I honestly don't know 100% what it is. Hopefully someone might be able to id it better.

A few pics and might help as well as water parameters. And if you have any plants if so what kind etc....

Thanx for responding, I just added a pic, my plants are fake and I'm pretty sure the water is fine because my angel fish just laid eggs.

hello there,

No clue what it is, but it is kind of cool. Am I to understand that in a certain amount of time, it will not be where it is now and be someplace else in the tank and not leave a trace of it's previous position..........sounds a little twilight zonish.....

Yes ths stuff is alive, it moves from place to place like a snail.

Wow, hate to say it, but I have never seen anything close to resembling that. Quite interesting though. And if by chance you have found a new species....I call naming it! I think I'll go with Crack-in-the-glass algae or lighting bolt fungus...haha jkjk.
It's the angel's eggs!! (ok, it's not but I'm just getting desperate @ finding out what this thing is. A snail w/ no shell? or...you thermometer has broken and released the mercury and has mutated the fish into gell like substances.
All that being said, I honestly have no idea. Maybe Jay can help, he's good w/ plants and small organism like stuff.

It's not looking good for getting an answer to your problem. Do you have any major universities near you. Someone in the Biology dept. may be able to help.

Is it like a gel-like substance around the white part? or is it kind of like roots(just the white stuff?)

well I must say, this white stuff was getting out of hand, so yesturday I did a total clean job . I took every thing out and in the trash it went (except the gravel and the fish ) I did an 80% water change and vacuumed the gravel twice. I went to the store and bought new plants and decorations ( fake of corse ) and wiped out the inside completely. I put my fish back in today and they seem to be happy and doing fine. No sign of that white stuff so far. I guess only time will tell.
