| Re: Filter Help! i was just looking through the foster and smith catalog and found a cool little canister filter that made me think of this thread. it's called a "rapids mini canister filter". it runs 80 gph and includes all the hoses, intake, spraybar and a bracket to hang the filter on the back of the tank if you want. the filter and media both will run you about 40 bucks. just thought it might be an easy add-on to your tank. prolly wouldn't do if you upgrade to a bigger tank tho.

| Re: Filter Help! Thanks! yeah it's funny, i was checking that one out myself, and wasn't sure if i will commit to the canister filter route or not. some of the fish folk around here don't prefer them, because of possible leaks, and the maintenance with them. i have always used HOBs and was comfortable with them.. the hunt continues, on my making a decision and going with it.

| Re: Filter Help! Okay. Some follow up on what I've been doing to this tank of mine. Already had an older tank top from a purchase about a year ago... just never thought it would fit this tank, go figure. Then I ended up getting the Whisper 40 for the tank, and so far it seems to be kicking some major butt. Also found some rocks on Ebay and took the plunge! This is the tank in daytime, without some compact fluorescent bulbs yet. Can't wait to see it with light However Foster and Smith seem to be selling them for the least. About $9 a bulb or so. I need to look at Ebay some more, because Petsmart wants like $15 a bulb. And that's just plain Poop. What I worry about is the bulb fitting the fixture, without being able to check the size of socket and size of bulb end. Oh well, that's the latest, sure appreciate the help I've had on here.
Night pictures coming soon!

| Re: Filter Help! is there a big difference between the mini compact fluorescent bulbs at the hardware store, and the ones claiming to be for an aquarium? I know the price is a huge difference but was wondering if the actual product differs all that much?
Thanks to anyone in advance who can clear the air on this one.
