Okay, so I figured out I was adding too many electrolytes.....R/O right, livebearer salt, and sodium bicarb for the alkalinity. My tds was too high (11 - 1200), KH was (can't remember for sure but...) 12-14 dk?
So I did some water some water changes without adding any chems to try to lower the numbers, while watching my KH, I have a couple more to go on my 125 which is now down to 975 ppm, (plants are already responding well)
My questions concern the chems:
if I am adding R/O right, which are salts....do I need to add the livebearer salt?
And is there something besides sodium bicarb to add that will maintain my KH? Someone else recommended the product "pH right", which is supposed to be a calcium carbonate, but I can't find it any where.
Or, if I stop using the livebearer salt and use the R/O at a level for very soft water, (which is the lowest recommended amount) will it be enough for the fish along with the sodium bicarb?
thank you
