| Gourami Just got a new Gourami acclimated to my tank, have had them in the past. Seems to only want to hide behind the filter. It's a bummer, considering how beautiful the fish is. Is there a reason for this? Like I said it's the first day and didn't want to be too paranoid too soon. Like maybe it was just being shy.
Any peoples with some Gourami know how?
Thanks in advance!!
Spencer

| Re: Gourami It has been a while since I had a gourami but in general fish will behave in a shy and reserved manner when they are new to a tank. Once the pecking order is set up they usually get more visible in a few days. I would expect that in this situation assuming that the water is good and no serious compatibility problems. |

| Re: Gourami Thanks for the response, Loman. I am going to give it some time... still no Gourami out in the open. I am not sure what is keeping it from being compatible, unless there is a sensitivity to nitrate levels I am working to lower. I think that's the only issue I have right now. Hopefully I can make the transition comfortable, otherwise I may take my little friend back to the shop.
Thanks!

| Re: Gourami My Jack Dempsey was TERRIFIED to be out in view when I first got him, would turn very pale anytime he saw us GIANT humans. Within a few weeks he became less timid and more willing to be seen. Now he swims around and does his own thing, even the cats sitting staring in the tank don't bother him.
