styrofoam background question

long piece of thick styrofoam, black netting, and glue on lots of pebbles .

I like this idea, but what about the rocks/pebbles. I dont want the common aquarium gravel, nor do I want the bags of shinny pebbles, there must be another idea of the rocks. As you can see, I am not creative, but I do get some crazy ideas.

any suggestions?

I would use sandstone myself. It's not shiny...

I had not really thought of that idea, Judge. I think its because this part of ohio is sand and limestone!!! I guess it must have something to do with where a person lives. My grandson loves coal and limestone, thats where it always wants to go when they are here from South Dakota. In the limestone, sand or coal quarries. Im big time grandma!!!!! lol

You got my mind working. South Dakota has dark pink and black rock, they pave their roads with it. My grandson does not see it, but I go crazy over it when Im out there. He can pick tiny flat sided pieces and send them to me.
